Although salesforce certifications are not required to land you a job, they defiantly do help you stand out from the crowd. So, it is advised that after you become familiar with the core functionality you give the ADM201 a try. The ADM201 is a basic salesforce certification for the people working with salesforce and is internationally recognized and good for people starting out with salesforce as it makes you study the key elements of Salesforce.
How I studied for my Salesforce ADM201:
I am currently in the process of studying for my ADM201 currently and am due to take my exam on the 3rd of April (Fingers crossed). Here are a couple of tips I feel might help you with your preparation for the ADM201:
1- Read the official Salesforce ADM201 exam study guide:
This is the first step in being able to plan an effective method of studying the various topics to be covered in the exam. It can be hard to remember all of the topics and objectives you must revise; however, the study guide makes this simple. They have all the different topics with the different weighting percentages for each topic, so you know what to expect. At the time of writing this the study guide can be found here. Ensure you cover all of the topics mentioned in this study guide!
2- Salesforce Community:
Apart from self-study it’s highly advisable to join one of Salesforce Certification study group. But you need to be cautious because there are many communities which give you wrong information and fruitless discussions. Try to focus on communities of certified Salesforce community members where you can ask questions and get accurate answers with plenty of places for discussions and resource material.
3- Trailhead A gamification tool:
Trailhead is Salesforce’s free online learning tool where you will find challenges and questions at the end of each unit to practice the concepts. For this I signed up into my own personal developer Org. I followed this trail mix to prepare for my ADM201 which I found very useful: find here
